It was a pleasure for TTRNA to meet with the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Midwives (TTAM) on Saturday 27th April, 2019 at their Head office on Corner De Gannes & La Croix Streets, Couva.
As the two organizations grow from strength to strength, it is an opportune time for greater collaboration to take place between 2 of the 3 most important nursing and midwifery organizations in Trinidad and Tobago.
During the 2 hour long intense meeting, the various issues were discussed:
- Position on upcoming meeting with the Ministry of Health.
- ILO Nursing Personnel Convention & Nursing Personnel Act
- Memorandum of Agreement between both organizations.
It was also an opportunity for both organizations to relay information on upcoming events. TTRNA was pleased to sponsor five (5) TTRNA members to TTAM’s “Conversations in Midwifery 3” held on 03rd May 2019, which we congratulate the Association in ensuring the midwives are informed about the latest development within the profession.
The Nursing and Midwifery public, can look forward to ground breaking developments soon. Especially since the pending regulatory body elections on June 10th 2019, will usher in a progressive minded Nursing Council. This will then allow all three (3) Nursing and Midwifery bodies in T&T to meet jointly and strategize effectively for the benefit of all personnel.
